A recent trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma had me in search of some light and healthy, but still filling fare on a Sunday afternoon. Scouring scores of possibilities and menus online I came across something that piqued my interest called the ‘Detox Burger’ from a place called the Blue Rose Cafe. At first blush my meat-eating travel companions weren’t impressed, until they read the rest of the menu. So the Blue Rose Cafe is where we settled. And we weren’t disappointed.
We arrived to an artsy, eclectic, indoor/outdoor cafe that seemed perfect for this hot, lazy afternoon and were greeted by a prompt, polite and knowledgable server. I decided to dive in to what consisted of guacamole, Swiss, sprouts, tomato, red onion, cucumber, balsamic vinegar and olive oil on wheat berry bread. It may not have looked very appetizing but to my taste buds’ surprise, found the Detox Burger to be a gem of a find. Let’s put it in the super-yummy healthy eats category. Who knew!? Definitely two thumbs up.
The rest of my party seemed satisfied with their carnivorous selections and had no problem cleaning their plates either. So, I would definitely recommend this place as a must do if you find your way off the beaten path in Tulsa. I still find myself craving that burger from time to time and when I try my hand at crafting a Detox burger of my own, I’ll be sure to share the tasty results.
